Today, my host mother let me sleep until 12 pm. Then we went to the Ghibli Museum, the place that showcased the works of the famous Hayao Miyazaki. For those of you who don't know who he is (HOW DARE YOU), he did the films Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Kiki's Delivery Service. Last year, I even got to meet Mr. Miyazaki at his house (how can I not interject this brag into every time someone mentions him?!)! This was my second time at the museum, but this time, I got to see the sequel short-film to My Neighbor Totoro starring May and the baby catbus. It was just way too adorable, so when we went to the giftshop, I had to buy myself a little catbus plushie. There's not any pictures of the inside of the museum because photography isn't allowed inside.
While at the museum, I tried to call Jad but I didn't know his Saudi Arabia area code. So I called Steve and told him I didn't feel up to going all the way to Ginza because it was an hour away, I'd get back late, I was tired and it was raining. He lectured me and made me feel like crap because apparently Riina was very sad that I skipped out on nomikai, and told me I'm a massive flake. OK. So I headed into Ginza and somehow magically got there at the right time.
I met up with Jad, Ani, Mandi and Wonwoo. We went to the Vampire Cafe and at first we thought it was way awesome. Except that there was only one vampire girl working there, and they played this weird flute music that wasn't vampire-esque or gothic at all, and the drinks were outrageously expensive (well, it was in Ginza, so expecting anything cheap is out of the question because it's the swankiest place in Tokyo). I got this non-alcoholic drink called the Pussy Cat which tasted like orange juice so it wasn't anything fancy. Then we ordered pizza, but when they gave it to us, we thought it was bread and everyone ate it. We waited and waited for our pizza to come but it never did... because we already ate it. Meanwhile, Mandi and Wonwoo ate this awful pasta dish. We were so angry when the bill came that we paid in all the one yen coins we had and slipped in some US dimes just to be a pain. So here's a tip for anyone who ends up in Tokyo; vampire cafes just aren't worth it. I heard that the maid cafes are better and I still have yet to visit one.
[this is good]
